Yes, she had a family. She had a father who was forced to marry Matilda after her mother died after giving birth to her. Matilda was the daughter of the duke of Veronica mansions who was also forced to marry Madi’s father in order to stop the war between the two royalties. Madi lived happily with them till the time her father died because of an incurable illness. When she reached the age of five, the way she was treated by her step mom became different. Her step mom, Matilda, became cruel. She’s treated by her step mom as a prisoner. She was not allowed to play with friends. She became sickly because she was not allowed to go out their place; she’s always in her room. She already turned nine, and didn’t even enroll in a school; instead, she just had her tutorial lessons. She was always scolded by her step mom for no reasons. All those years, she suffered from hiding the pains, keeping her emotions. She had no friends to share those burdens; all she did was to keep silent and to always cry in her room.
One day, she got an idea of making a painting of a guy because she remembered the days when she was still with her father and because she was always sick, she used this as an alternative therapy for her sickness and as a hobby to enjoy herself. She made it very detailed, a tall, fair-skinned handsome guy. She named her work, Yuan. Every time she felt so depressed, she will just stare at Yuan and she will get better. Every time she had a problem, she will just talk to Yuan, as if he exists, until the day came that Yuan lived in her imagination. There was this secret garden that Madi discovered when she wanted to spent time talking to her imaginary friend. Every time she’s there with Yuan, a day seemed not enough. As her medicine for her sickness, she kept on playing, singing and dancing with Yuan, as if he really exists. She didn’t care about what people would think about her as long as she knew that she was enjoying whenever she was with him.
Years gone by and Madi suddenly fell in love with Yuan, but she knew that it was impossible to fell in love in an imaginary person. She can’t control herself. She sometimes thought of things that’s really impossible and will never happen, like dating, marrying him. She tried to forget him, but still he was tattooed on her mind. She hid her painting of Yuan in a treasure box and buried it in the secret garden, but still it doesn’t work. She tried to escape her feelings by making herself busy. She often went to the park to enjoy. A day came that she was again attacked by her illness, she was at the park that time she fainted. When she woke up, she discovered that she was already in the hospital. She saw Yuan sitting beside her. She thought that she was just dreaming. She pinched herself. She realized that all she had been seeing was true. Yuan really existed. The guy stared at her, asked her if she’s ok. Then the guy asked for her name and where she lives, and then he accompanied Madi on her way home. Before she entered the gate, she cried and hugged him. The guy was surprised, but instead of embarrassing her, he just also hugged her to comfort her. Then he introduced himself. Madi was shocked when she knew that he was not Yuan, but Dein.
Dein is a pauper, who was at the park that time Madi fainted, selling his paintings for his living. He was exactly alike with Yuan that’s why Madi thought that he was Yuan. Dein loved Madi when he first saw her at the park, that’s why when she fainted; he didn’t have any second thought to help her. They became friends since the day he helped her. They always met each other at the park to paint. They became closer until they fell in love with each other. Dein started to court her, but Matilda knew it and kept Madi away from him because he is a pauper. One day, Madi tried to escape to be with Dein, but she was caught and Dein was mobbed and drove away the mansion.
Months passed, they we’re both so depressed. Dein used his time, making paintings of Madi. Madi was so ill, she was bedridden for weeks. She was getting worst even if she’s taking her medicine and therapy. The doctor had no choice but to ask her what she wants. She wanted to see Dein. The doctor consulted it to her step mom, for the first time Madi’s request was granted. Dein came, longing to see her. They both cried when they saw each other. Dein asked her to marry him. She didn’t know what to say because she was afraid that her step mom would separate them again, but her step mom agreed because she didn’t want to repeat the same mistake that happened to her. The wedding day came, they we’re both excited. Madi was dressed elegantly. Nobody could ever imagine that she had an illness. Dein was so handsome. Nobody could tell that he was then a pauper. When they reached the altar, Madi suddenly fell, everybody was shocked. She was brought quickly to the hospital. She was already dying when she said that she wanted to continue the wedding. After the ceremony, she told her husband the story about her painting; her imaginary friend. She requested her husband to get the painting after her burial. Dein refused because he knew that Madi would still be living. Dein, for the first time revealed his whole name. He is Dein Yuan Scott, the son of a very wealthy and known trader; he just disguised himself as a pauper, because he wanted to know if somebody would love him, not because of his wealth. Madi was shocked when she knew this. She kept on asking herself, if they we’re really meant for each other. Until her last breath, she expressed her love to her husband and when she’s about to tell him about the name of the painting, she already died.
Two years had passed after Madi died when Dein decided to get the painting her wife buried in the secret garden. He was surprised when he saw it, because it was exactly him. He was also shocked when he saw the painting signed, “My friend, Yuan- Madeline Crest”. Then he remembered the story, her wife told her and the scene when she’s about to tell the name of her imaginary friend and the title of the painting. He cried because he proved that they we’re destined and her wife had loved her even before they met.
